Geshe Gendun Sherab, one of the most respected Geshes in Tibet, was born in 1962, in Rebkong, an area where Shabkar and so many yogis originate, in the Amdo Eastern province of Tibet.
At a very early age, he took monk’s vows at Sera monastery near Lhassa, where he became a Lharampa Geshe perfectly versed in the traditional Tibetan sciences of meditation. From a Gelugpa background he studied with the greatest teachers of all 4 schools of Tibetan Buddhism and thus developped the most valuable Rimay non sectarian approach promoted by masters such as Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He is also known as a great practitioner of the female protector Palden Lhamo.
An accomplished yogi, Geshe Gendun Sherab spent over 20 years meditating in holy places and caves blessed by great meditators of the past in Amdo and Kham. Nowadays he spends 6 months per year in solitary retreat and the rest of the year he offers his most valuable teachings to devoted students, dedicating all their donations to altruistic activities such as building clinics, orphanages or bridges. His life illustrates bodhicitta in action and by Tibetans he is regarded as a living saint and a Dharma treasure.
