Italian Earthquake Relief

A powerful 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck central Italy in the early hours of Wednesday, August 24th, that killed nearly 300 people, with hundreds injured, many more unaccounted for and thousands left homeless. With urgent rescue efforts ongoing and victims still being pulled from the rubble, Sorig First Aid sprang into action calling to put our compassion into action, knowing that even when we are far away, we can still do something through prayer.  Standing in solidarity with our dear friends in Italy, the SKI family came together on 25th August for a joint Medicine Buddha Healing practice to send prayer, healing and light to those affected.

Unfortunately, on October 30th, another 6.6 magnitude earthquake rocked central Italy and tremors were felt strongly in Rome, home of our Genla, Dr. Nida Chenagtsang.  Though there were no casualties reported as the area was already evacuated from tremors felt a week earlier, but the damage to buildings was extensive.  It was an unprecedented sequence of 3 large shocks in 4 days for the country.  Once again, the Sangha family of SKI came together in unity on 31st October, the day of new moon to send Medicine Buddha Healing and protector practice prayers to the Great Mother Earth, especially to the quake hit zones and the people suffering from the aftermath of the earthquake.  Through the healing light of Medicine Buddha and Yuthokpa, may we bring hope and strength to those in need.
